Telstra & HTC launch HTC HD with 'biggest screen'

HTC has launched the new HTC HD touchscreen Windows Mobil smartphone in Australia, exclusive to Next G until 30 April touting it has having the biggest screen of any similar device on the market.

With only 200 programs available so far for the G1 Android gPhone, Google says apps are nevertheless proving popular. Meanwhile, a gPhone jailbreak gets patched and shock, horror: Steve Ballmer says he’s not a fan.

The HTC Touch Diamond: a true iPhone 3G killer?

Nope, there’s no iPhone on Telstra’s Next G network yet, but from mid-August the HTC Touch Diamond will exclusively sparkle its way into Telstra stores and sprinkle a bit of magic over the lacklustre Windows Mobile OS. Surely it’ll be joined, if not preceded, by the iPhone 3G?

Market researcher iSuppli has delivered its first estimate of iPhone 3G construction costs purporting to show just how it is Apple has been able to cut upfront iPhone costs so low. But iSuppli haven’t finished yet – once they get a real iPhone 3G, they’ll break it apart and do the cost calculations again!

The HTC Touch Diamond touch screen phone is already available overseas and has been well reviewed in iTWire , so the most important things we wanted to know when it made its debut in Australia on the Telstra network, were: how much, and when?

HTC Touch Diamond has Windows glass jaw

A lot of media reports are circulating which extol the virtues of the latest hot product from High Tech Computer, the HTC Touch Diamond 3G smartphone, and like so many other products, comparing it to the Apple iPhone. Sorry HTC, but the addition of an accelerometer and a larger high resolution 640 x 480 screen still won't put the new Touch model within shouting distance of the iPhone.
